Throughout the year, Breitbart Sports had Trey Burke pegged as the top player in the land and named his as the Player of the Year early on. Eventually, everyone else hopped on board the bandwagon, and the Wolverine guard won all four major player of the year trophies. Having accomplished all that and resurrected the Michigan basketball program after leading the Wolverines to the national title game, the superstar playmaker is going pro.
The six foot guard averaged 18.6 points per game and 6.7 assists in a stellar sophomore campaign that has allowed his draft stock to rise to the point where he is now considered a consensus lottery selection in June’s NBA Draft.
It is unlikely he would rise into the top couple of picks. While a player’s Value Add ranking measures precisely how valuable he has been to his college team down to the number of points he has added to the board and taken off the opponents scoreboard, there are separate “NBA Indicators” that help pinpoint his likely NBA potential.
We also factor in the combine results that measure each players strength, speed, agility and other factors, as well as his REAL height and width – not always the same as what their college has generally listed them. Burke appears to be a much stronger candidate for a productive NBA career than the guards he faced in the championship game – Peyton Siva and Russ Smith – and appears to have the attributes of a strong NBA guard.
