The Twins beat the Nationals in only the third-longest game of the day, 4-3, in 11 innings Saturday night.

Nationals reliever Craig Stammen (3-2) yielded the winning run in the top of the 11th on a single by Ryan Doumit scoring Chris Hermann. The Twins’s Josh Roenicke (2-1) pitched a scoreless 10th inning for the win and closer Glen Perkins recorded his 13th save.

The Nationals took the lead in the third on a two run homer by Jayson Werth off Twins starter Kevin Correia.

The Twins tied it in the 4th off an error by Nationals 1B Adam LaRoche and a single by Brian Dozier. Joe Mauer then gave the Twins the lead with a home run in the 5th, but the Nationals tied it in the 7th with an RBI double by catcher Kurt Suzuki.

The Nationals collected 10 hits but went only 1 for 7 with runners in scoring position. Starter Gio Gonzalez is now winless in his last six starts, despite allowing more than two earned runs only once.
