Powerhouse English soccer team Manchester United apologized after sending out an email that had a “Swastika-style” team logo and phrase linked to the Nazis.

The image (pictured) “bears a remarkable similarity to the logo of the German Nazi Party” and the email had the headline “New Order”–which is linked to Adolf Hitler’s 1941 call for a European New Order.”

Three ManU soccer players are below the image, which “immediately caused widespread outrage on Twitter and forced Manchester United – who play in the British Premier League–to issue the apology via their Head of Media, David Sternberg.”

“The creative is completely inappropriate; we apologise unreservedly and are taking appropriate internal action,” he said.

Senior ManU officials are reportedly “shocked” and are taking action “to prevent further distribution of the United Uncovered email.”
