On Monday, Qatar removed a statue that depicts French soccer star Zinedine Zidane’s infamous headbutt seen around the world during the 2006 World Cup because it depicts “anti-Islam idolization.”

The sculpture depicts Zidane “attacking Italy’s Marco Materazzi in the 2006 World Cup final was put on display on Doha’s corniche on October 3.”

Zidane, the Frenchman who is one of the greatest soccer players to ever play the game, is a “non-practicing Muslim” whose parents are from Northern Algeria.
