In his debut as an ESPN analyst, Tim Tebow nearly predicted the score of Monday’s BCS title game between Auburn and Florida State.

“Auburn might be a team of destiny, but tonight, Florida State is deeper from top to bottom,” Tebow said on ESPN’s pregame show. “(With) Jameis Winston and Telvin Smith’s leadership in the fourth quarter, I think they win 35-31.”

Florida State won 34-31 on a two-yard touchdown pass from Winston to Kelvin Benjamin.

Tebow may have predicted the score perfectly had Florida State running back Devonta Freeman not received a controversial “taunting” penalty in the fourth quarter after a Florida State touchdown. Florida State was trailing 21-19, but had to kick the extra point from 35 yards after the 15-yard penalty instead of going for two. Had they gone for two and made it, Tebow’s prediction would have been right on the mark.
