Rory McIlroy admitted that his stomach was churning on Sunday when he grinded out a final round 71 to win the 143rd British Open. Some speculate that his stomach was churning even worse on Monday after celebrating his win by drinking Jagermeister from the prestigious Claret Jug.

The German liquor, which tastes a lot like Robitussin but not quite as pleasant when mixed with Red Bull, is affectionately known as a “Jager Bomb” when dropped into beer (old school) or Red Bull (new school). Overindulging in the nasty potion has been credited for producing some of the worst hangovers known to man. Nevertheless, for the next year the jug belongs to Rory and he can put whatever he likes in it, whether it is Jagermeister or a $40,000 bottle of wine as did Phil Mickelson, the prior steward of the jug.

According to TMZ Sports, this is not Rory’s first time sipping Jager. After winning the U.S. Open in 2011, Rory filled up the winning trophy with the syrupy sauce. To his credit, McIlroy did not elect to do an upside down twerking dance after drinking beer from the trophy as Michele Wie did in June after winning the women’s 2014 U.S Open tournament.
