After making the New England Patriots great, Tom Brady wants to make America great. At least that’s what the hat says in his locker.

Under a bottle of Listerine and above some clothes, a red “Make America Great Again” hat appears in reigning Super Bowl-MVP’s locker at Gillette Stadium. For the blissfully unaware, that’s the campaign slogan of Donald Trump.

Trump repeatedly offered words of support for Brady after the NFL suspended him four games for a “general awareness” of a “more probable than not” scheme to deflate footballs before the AFC Championship Game in January. A federal judge vacated the suspension last week.

In the aftermath of the ruling by Judge Richard Berman, Trump called Brady “honorable” and “honest.” This follows other comments of support on the campaign trail. “I think it’s ridiculous the way they’ve treated him,” Trump told Fox Business Network’s Maria Bartiromo last month. “He’s a friend of mine, he’s a great friend of mine. He’s a great guy. I think it is terrible the way they’ve treated him.”

Brady feels “terrible” for the way the league has treated his team’s suspended equipment guys. The Patriots have petitioned the NFL to bring the beleaguered ball boys back. Brady told reporters this weekend of John Jastremski and Jim McNally: “They’ve been obviously put through a lot.”

The New England Patriots open the NFL season, sans the suspended equipment guys, against the Pittsburgh Steelers this Thursday night on NBC.
