Johnny Manziel took to Twitter and Instagram to help repair a reputation sullied in part by Twitter and Instagram advertising his off-field exploits.

The Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback earned his release from the Cleveland Browns earlier this year after several alcohol-related incidents, received an indictment for a domestic incident involving his former girlfriend, attended Coachella and a Justin Bieber concert, and found himself involved in a couple of car crashes, among other issues. The NFL suspended him for four games as a result of the incident in Texas with his former girlfriend, which followed a more muted event involving his former girlfriend not involving a police helicopter that occurred in Ohio several months earlier.

Johnny Football tweeted out a vague apology to Texas A&M fans, vowing: “I’ll do whatever I can to make it right.”

At roughly the same time, the NFL free agent posted an “I’ll be back” promise on Instagram. Manziel maintained, “It can’t end like this.”

You all write about a day in my life and what goes on…here it is. No secrets, no hiding, I”m not what you read about. I’ll be back… In time. It can’t end like this…it won’t. I love you all even though your comments suck. ✌️

The social media blitz follows an everything-is-awesome statement released to the Washington Post a few days ago. “I’m actually doing well,” Manziel insisted. “I have good friends around me supporting what I do and I try to support them in what they want to do. I’m not saying I’m never drinking again, but for now just mostly being healthy. I’ve got a killer gym in my house and I can spend time working out.”

Manziel has been looking for a team to join since winter. Manziel has been looking like a skinny mess for most of that time. Manziel has been? He says Manziel will be.
