The NHL season opened last night with a quartet of games on the schedule.
Despite winning back-to-back Stanley Cups, the Pittsburgh Penguins, who open the season tonight against the Washington Capitals minus Sidney Crosby, do not enter the 2016-2017 campaign the favorites to win it all. That honor goes to the Chicago Blackhawks. The bookies appear somewhat less bullish on the Vancouver Canucks, Arizona Coyotes, Columbus Blue Jackets, and Carolina Hurricanes.
