Following a Breitbart Tech article about his removal as an /r/Politics moderator due to his support of Donald Trump, Jeffrey Minter has received a 3-day suspension across the whole of Reddit.

Minter, better known by his Reddit username /u/Kwiztas, was removed as a moderator of Reddit’s default political discussion subreddit, /r/Politics, due to his vocal support of Donald Trump. A post was made in the anti-Trump subreddit /r/EnoughTrumpSpam, referring to Minter as a “jackass” and deriding him for his contact with Breitbart.

The post picked apart the previous Breitbart article about Minter’s banning in an attempt to discredit it and lobs insults Minter for his support of Trump.

Minter logged onto Reddit today to discover he had been suspended from Reddit entirely for 3 days. Reddit’s admins accused Minter of “vote manipulation.” Vote manipulation is the use of methods such as post brigading (encouraging users to downvote the post) to affect the visibility of the post.

Minter denies these accusations saying that he’s done nothing of the sort – the only explanation Minter claims is that “Maybe I upvoted my girlfriend’s post and we are on the same ip or she is upvoting me.” which is nowhere near enough to constitute vote brigading. Minter did post Breitbart’s article to the pro Donald Trump Reddit community /r/The_Donald however he never once told users to upvote or downvote a particular Reddit post.

There seems to be little evidence of the vote manipulation that Minter is accused of and an explanation of his specific infraction has not yet been provided.
