Selfies are one of the most iconic images of Millennials and others alike in the 21st century, with people taking pictures with friends, family, and by tourist attractions frequently per day. Taking one at the ballot box, however, can be risky depending on what state you live in.

Here is a definitive list of states where you should take caution:

No photos allowed inside the polling station

No selfies with your marked ballot

No photos allowed inside or outside the polling station

No photos in the voting booth

All electronic communication devices banned, along with photos at the polling station

Prohibited to show others your marked ballot. This includes photographs

Personal selfies (this means pictures that don’t include others who want to vote privately) are legal in the following states

Just because some states may legally allow people to take selfies with their ballot, there may be guidelines against it, and you may be peacefully asked to refrain from taking a photograph. Disturbing the polling station is not allowed in most states.
