An Uber driver has been accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a female customer before dumping her on the side of the road.

According to NBC Connecticut, 24-year-old New York Uber driver Harbir Parmar allegedly “picked up a woman in Manhattan, and rather than taking her to her desired destination in White Plains, New York, changed her destination in the company’s app to Boston, Mass.”

“The victim, who fell asleep during the ride, told authorities that she woke up in the car with Parmar in the backseat with her, his hand under her shirt and touching her breast. When the victim woke up, Parmar got back into the driver’s seat and continued the trip,” NBC Connecticut reported, adding that Parmar, who is also accused of fraud, then refused to take the customer where she wanted to go and instead dumped her on the side of the road.

Police reportedly “believe there may be more victims,” and in a statement, United States Attorney Geoffrey S. Berman declared, “No one – man or woman – should fear such an attack when they simply hire a car service.”

“What’s been reported is horrible and something no person should go through,” expressed Uber in regard to the allegations. “As soon as we became aware, we immediately removed this individual’s access to the platform. We have fully cooperated with law enforcement and will continue to support their investigation.”

Parmar is not the first Uber driver accused of rape or sexual assault, and in January, an illegal alien Uber driver was charged with raping and sexually assaulting four young women.

There have also been cases of alleged Uber driver rape and assault in San Antonio, Washington, D.C., Georgia, Boston, Dallas, and Australia.

In a lawsuit last year, two women who claimed to have been raped by Uber drivers further claimed that “thousands” of other women had also “endured unlawful conduct” from Uber drivers, prompting the ride-hailing company to pledge $5 million to sexual assault prevention groups.
