Some time ago Greg Gutfeld wrote a piece for our sister site, Big Hollywood, about Velvet Underground drummer-turned-Tea Partier Moe Tucker.

The alterna-weekly in my hometown, which at times has a confusing like/loathe stance towards conservatives (like many alt-weeklys, oddly enough), recently snagged an interview with Tucker. It’s a great read as writer Mike Appelstein let Tucker speak for herself as opposed to some of what we’ve seen written by others about Tea Partiers. Because of this the piece shines.

What are some misconceptions that people have about Tea Parties (and their attendants) in general?

That they’re all racists, they’re all religious nuts, they’re all uninformed, they’re all stupid, they want no taxes at all and no regulations whatsoever. Those “arguments” are presented by the Dems in order to keep their base of uninformed voters on their side. In my opinion, as soon as you start name-calling, your opinion is immediately deemed invalid!
