How despicable can Matt Lauer and the Today Show get? How about this: skipping the moment of silence at 8:46 a.m. today which honored the memory of the 9/11 attacks in order to interview “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star Kris Jenner about her breast implants.

Lauer, who is the 400-pound gorilla of the show, is as responsible as the rest of the Today Show’s decision-making personnel; you know that everything on the show runs through him. And just last week, Breitbart.com reported that Lauer tried to spin the terrible economic news as some sort of victory for President Obama.

While NBC was offering salacious details of Jenner’s breasts, in  New York City the NYPD, FDNY, Port Authority Police and the families of the victims were present for a moment of silence. The cable networks, ABC’s Good Morning America” and “CBS This Morning” covered the story. The New York affiliate of NBC carried the coverage, but the national show did not.

Remembering the victims and just as importantly, the murderers who perpetrated the attacks is a vital part of calling oneself an American. The attacks were against Americans as a whole, and to remember is to acknowledge that we are, despite Barack Obama’s attempts to divide us, one people with one destiny. For NBC to deliberately ignore that fact is one more example of how their agenda fits so well with Obama’s: to focus on what divides us and not what unifies us.
