An informal poll conducted at MediaBistro yesterday carried disappointing results for Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ), the embattled politician at the center of a firestorm over an alleged prostitution scandal in the Dominican Republic. MediaBistro’s readers – who are largely liberal – voted 46% for the proposition, “Where there’s smoke there’s fire. He probably did it.” Clocking in in second place was “Look at his face. Everything about it says, ‘I’m willing to pay for a good hump.'” Third place: “Breitbart called it with Anthony Weiner, so there’s some credibility here at least.” Tied for third: “Don’t care. But if he did, good for him.”

Finishing dead last: “No, The Daily Caller and Breitbart News can’t be trusted on this one.”

When you’ve lost MediaBistro’s readership, you may have lost your credibility, Sen. Menendez.
