Say what you will about MSNBC morning host Joe Scarborough; he doesn’t suffer from a deflated sense of self. In fact, he’s quite sure that he and only he has the secret to electoral success for the Republican party. This coming from a man who has not held elective office since 2002 and ran unopposed in the very Republican Florida’s first district his last two elections.

This is very important for my Republican brethren You don’t have to listen to me. God knows you haven’t — and you’ve lost election after election after election. You want to keep losing, you go ahead and do that if you’re comfortable with it. Apparently you are.

Scarborough went on to warn the GOP to not make a focus on Barack Obama a major part of their mid-term strategy because the President remains a very popular figure. He drew upon his experience in 1998 during the Clinton years as an example of mid-term failure.
