After NBC announced that it had suspended Nightly News anchor Brian Williams without pay, executives have quietly begun to scrub the anchor’s name from the show’s broadcast as well as the website and social media.

Late on Tuesday night NBC News President Deborah Turness announced that Williams was being suspended. Almost immediately rumors swirled that Savannah Guthrie was the top candidate to replace the embattled Williams.

Despite NBC’s claims that the anchor was only being suspended, the network has begun to scrub his name from any connection to the broadcast.

The New York Post reported that insiders confirmed that Williams’ name will be systematically removed from the broadcast.

Already the main website shows that Williams’ name is now missing from the Nightly News header. There is also no mention of Williams on the show’s Twitter feed.

Finally, on Wednesday’s broadcast, Williams name was removed from the show’s opening.
