Newly released Facebook metrics by social media analytics leader NewsWhip ranks Breitbart News #6 for most Facebook comments among top English language Facebook publishers for the month of July.

Breitbart News’ 3,435,105 Facebook comments, which did not include Breitbart’s 1,200,000 on-site comments during the same period, ranked #6 behind Huffington Post, Fox News, Buzzfeed, NBC, and Daily Mail respectively.

“Our community is made up of the engaged–socially, commercially, politically–and that engagement means readers have strong opinions they want to share,” said Breitbart News Executive Chairman Stephen K. Bannon. “This community is the backbone of the company and something Andrew focused so much energy to build. It is extremely satisfying to see it explode like this.”

NewsWhip Head of Communications Liam Corcoran predicts that politically focused Facebook publishers will continue on their current growth trajectory as 2016 presidential coverage intensifies. Moreover, according to Corcoran, “Conservative news has long been a strong driver of engagement on Facebook.”

Among news organizations, comments are viewed as a key measure of engagement. Recently, the New York Times celebrated its most commented article, which received 5,597 comments, a figure myriad Breitbart News articles best regularly.

“Breitbart News’ Facebook rankings reflect the passion and power of our savvy and engaged army of Facebook readers,” said Breitbart News CEO and President Larry Solov.
