A Texas math teacher is accused of having sexual relations with a teenage student for more than a year, including one time at a public park.

Alberta Padilla, 52, who taught at Claudia Taylor “Lady Bird” Johnson High School in San Antonio, allegedly carried on a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old boy from June 2016 to August 20, 2016, WCVB reports.

Padilla allegedly admitted to the sexual relationship with her student after she allowed him to stay at her house. She allegedly told authorities that she gave the student food and clothing and that they both developed feelings for each other over time.

She allegedly confessed that she had sex with the boy 15-20 times, including once at a public park in town.

Authorities reportedly found out about the relationship when Padilla’s daughters recorded a conversation they had with the teenage boy, who told the girls that he was in love with their mother and told them not to tell police about the relationship.

The student told authorities that he and Padilla had sexual relations, police said.

KTSA reports that Padilla is being held on $20,000 bond at the Bexar County Jail.

North East Independent School District spokesperson Aubrey Chancellor said officials are investigating and determining whether Padilla, who is currently on leave, should be fired, Fox San Antonio reports.
