On Monday’s “The O’Reilly Factor,” Spike TV’s “Catch a Contractor” star and author of “President Me: The America that’s in My Head” Adam Carolla responded to a  March 7 Variety magazine review of his Spike TV show by Brian Lowry.

In that review, Lowry referred to Carolla as one of “Fox News Channel’s house clowns.”

Partial transcript as follows:

O’REILLY: You know I usually ignore this kind of garbage by these fanatical people that take shots at Fox News. When it’s totally out of context he was reviewing a program, a TV program you were on.

CAROLLA: “Home Improvement”.

O’REILLY: Home Improvement you know where you were wrestling contractors.

CAROLLA: Well, what I would do is I would lay out a wall and then put up some shear wall and give a nailing schedule and then pontificate about politics for 20 minutes. And then — no, no, I never spoke about politics. It never came up. It’s a home improvement show. You know, I was thinking, it’s funny that Variety is called variety, meaning a potpourri of opinions, thoughts, and ideas. It’s not variety. It’s only variety if you agree with them.

O’REILLY: Right. It’s just —

CAROLLA: If you don’t agree with them, then they’ll tear you a new one.

O’REILLY: It’s a strident left wing production.

CAROLLA: But ironically called Variety if you could have another opinion.

O’REILLY: But I agree with you that, you know — because it was totally out of context. He takes a shot at you for being Fox News’ house clown while reviewing a project that has nothing to do with Fox News. Nothing — you know, if you were bad on the show, say that.

CAROLLA: But the thing with the left is anybody who disagrees with them must just be drinking O’Reilly’s Kool-Aid or whatever it is. I know that sounded very homoerotic but what I’m trying to say is, somehow, I’ve been brainwashed by you and the good folks over at Fox and — or you’ve abducted my daughter and I’ll never see her again unless I agree with your politics.

O’REILLY: You don’t agree with me a lot of times. Look, it was just a cheap shot. But I want to — you know, we want to, at least, get it on the record.
