On Tuesday’s “The Herd” on Fox Sports 1, former Major League Baseball All-Star outfielder Lenny Dykstra told host Colin Cowherd about how he gained a competitive advantage during his playing days.
Cowherd noted that Dykstra kept a book on umpires, calling him “very smart that way.”
“I did more than that,” Dykstra responded. “I just poured a half million bucks on a private investigation team. Some of them like women, some like men, some gamble, some of them do whatever.”
“It wasn’t a coincidence I led the league in walks the next few years, was it?” he asked.
He added that “fear does a lot to a man” and he would use that information on umpires during his at-bats to tighten up the strike zone.
