Monday on Fox News Channel’s “The O’Reilly Factor,” presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump defended his tactics in taking on his likely general election opponent, Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton.

Host Bill O’Reilly expressed his disapproval of the tactics, which included a video posted on the social media site Instagram highlighting the rape allegations aimed at Clinton’s husband, former President Bill Clinton. Trump defended it, saying he was only “responding” to the Clintons.

“Well, I’m only responding to what they do,” Trump said. “They’ve been nasty. She’s been very nasty, and I said I’d like it to be on policy, Bill. I’d like it to be a straight, right down the middle.”

Later in the segment, Trump called the Clintons “dirty players” and declared he was doing what he had to do fight back.

“I don’t like doing that, but I have no choice,” Trump added. “When she hits me on things, I just have no choice. So you have to do it. It’s unfair. And you know they’re dirty players. They’ve been dirty players historically. And I have to fight back the way I have to fight back.”
