On Thursday, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim infielder Jeffrey Marte lost grip of the baseball bat during an at-bat against the Oakland A’s.
The errant bat connected with MLB umpire Paul Emmel’s head, leaving him bloodied and in need of stitches.
Emmel was quickly taken to the hospital, and the game continued on with only three umpires.
