The Memphis Redbirds, the AAA affiliate for the St. Louis Cardinals, hosted Miami Marlins AAA affiliate New Orleans Zephyrs Monday, and a big brawl broke out.
Zephyrs pitcher Jose Urena threw a pitch up and in to Redbirds outfielder Jeremy Hazelbaker in the fifth inning. Hazelbaker, not fond of the pitch, tossed his bat and charged the mound.
Urena met Hazelbaker with a fierce punch.
Benches and bullpens cleared and the fight was on.
In all, five players and the Zephyrs manager were ejected.
