Former United States Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge discussed the recent New York City bombing Sunday on New York AM 970’s “The Cats Roundtable.”

According to Ridge, the “global scourge of terrorism” is a “permanent condition.”

“[L]et’s just not be breathless about it. Let’s accept it, be smart, be aware,” Ridge said. “The other thing I think we need to do is a better job of using the 700,000 men and women in blue all over our country, keeping them better informed and engaged as we try to identify these one-off actors, these lone-wolf actors.”

“We will never eliminate the global scourge of radical Islam,” he later stated.
