Thursday, Duke University men’s basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski weighed in on the NCAA moving NCAA tournament games from his team’s state to South Carolina over North Carolina’s House Bill No. 2, which forces people to use the bathroom that matches their biological gender.

Krzyzewski called the law “stupid” and added he would get rid of the law if he could.

“South Carolina is known for great basketball and this is a great town,” he said in front of reporters. “We feel really good about being here. It would be nice if our state got as smart and also would host not just basketball tournaments but concerts and other NCAA events. Maybe we’ll get there in the next century. I don’t know. We’ll see.”

“Look, it’s a stupid thing,” Krzyzewski added. “That’s my political statement. If I was president or governor I’d get rid of it. And I’d back up my promises. As unusual as that might be. Anyway, I don’t want to get too political.”
