Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA) said Friday on Fox News Channel’s “The Story” that President Joe Biden’s policies are “malevolent,” so they are “hurting the American people.”

When asked about Biden downplaying inflation, Cassidy said, “It’s hard to keep from laughing. Inflation was 1.9% when he took office under Republican policies. Now it’s been 13% since he took office, 8.5% year over year. The president’s policies have either been incompetent or inept or, you name, even malevolent. They’re hurting American people. This midterm will be a referendum on those policies.”

He continued, “So the American Rescue Plan, as they called it, it could have been called the American Recession Plan, was 1.9 trillion of federal spending. Every Republican voted against it, every Democrat for it. Economists left of center said it would ignite inflation. It did. The inflation Reduction Act, so called,  that they just passed is predicted to increase inflation over the next two years. And add forgiving student loans that puts more out there to drive up inflation. Now these are their policies, which have been uniformly supported by Democrats, opposed by Republicans and that’s where the responsibility at least in large measure lies for these higher prices.”
