A man dressed as a pirate threatened a security guard with a knife on the set of the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean sequel, which is being shot on Australia’s Gold Coast, reports 9 News.
Police officers were called about 12:30pm. local time Tuesday after a dreadlocked man dressed as a pirate with a bird on his shoulder threatened a guard on the Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales set.
No injuries were reported, and much like the character of Jack Sparrow himself, the man was able to make a daring escape into a nearby wooded area, despite the use of a dog squad to assist police officers as they combed the area.
Queensland police have released this photo of the wanted scurvy pirate, who was last seen in a shopping center:
“It doesn’t surprise me, when you see the characters we’ve got on the Gold Coast, people will try anything to be a part of the movies,” Queensland Police spokesman Des Lacy told 9 News.
The film began production in Queensland last month and several key scenes are reported to soon be filmed on Australia’s Gold Coast, among other coastal locations. Johnny Depp is returning for his fourth reprisalof the role of Jack Sparrow.
The film is set for release on July 7, 2017.
