Iconic actor and veteran pilot Harrison Ford, who is still recovering from crashing his vintage airplane on a California golf course two weeks ago, will narrate a documentary on the history of aviation for National Geographic Studios.

Titled Living in the Age of Airplanes, the NAT GEO documentary was filmed in 18 countries across all 7 continents and will premiere April 8 at the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum in Washington D.C.

Two days later, the film will debut in nearly 20 Imax theaters, reports Deadline.

Produced and directed by Brian J. Terwilliger, Living in the Age of Airplanes covers 200,000 years of history, but focuses on how the miracle of flying was harnessed in only one century.

“Since we were all born into a world with airplanes, it’s hard to imagine that jet travel itself is only 60 years old, just a tick on the timeline of human history,” Terwilliger said in a statement. “With this film, we want to reignite people’s wonder for one of the most extraordinary aspects of the modern world.”

Ford, who has been flying for decades, has a long and well-documented story with aviation. From his daring and skilled pilot characters on film, to his multiple real-life close calls, the actor has logged thousands of hours in the air.
