The cause of death for beloved actress Catherine O’Hara has been revealed to be a pulmonary embolism stemming from a underlying diagnosis of rectal cancer.
The Home Alone star and Emmy winner died on January 30 at the age of 71, with her agency only saying it stemmed from a “brief illness” at the time.
According to TheWrap, O’Hara’s “death certificate further states the star was cremated and that her husband Robert ‘Bo’ Welch has her remains.”
Several of O’Hara’s co-stars from her iconic movie and television titles mourned her loss.
“Mama. I thought we had time. I wanted more. I wanted to sit in a chair next to you. I heard you. But I had so much more to say. I love you. I’ll see you later,” Home Alone star Macaulay Culkin shared in an Instagram post alongside photos contrasting him and O’Hara in the hit movie with them reuniting for his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
“Catherine O’Hara brought love and light to our world, through whipsmart compassion for the collection of eccentrics she portrayed…such a loss for her family and friends, and the audience she graced as friends,”said Meryl Streep who co-starred with O’Hara in Heartburn.
