Her Majesty visited Cardiff this week, but what happened as she left was perhaps not the best advertisement for constitutional monarchy. 

Six-year-old Maisie Gregory was minding her own business, curtseying after meeting The Queen, as you are supposed to, when a soldier from the Royal Welsh regiment accidentally whacked her in the head.

He was of course, just doing his job, saluting as Her Majesty left the building. Still, you can’t help but feel the little girl’s once-in-a-lifetime encounter might have been soured by this literal slap in the face…
