For the past 16 years, the Williams sisters graced the courts of tennis with their unbelievable talent, leaving spectators in awe as the ladies stamp their way in history books. In just over an hour, the sisters left another footprint behind after Serena defeated her big sister Venus to stay in route of her fourth Grand Slam in a row.

Serena won the first eight points in a row, but with the crowd behind her, Venus fired back. She saved her serve and broke Serena to tie the set 2-2. But it was the only break she would get along with two double faults. Serena landed six aces and put in the majority of her first serves as well.

The second set was still all Serena. She slammed four aces and broke Venus twice. She never once faced a break point and received 83% of her first serve points along with 22 winners. It was a fantastic match as Venus never gave up. There is something special about the Williams sisters, especially when they play against each other.

While the match was great, nothing beats the emotions after between the sisters. Despite being opponents, they are best friends and each other’s biggest fan. They are the best example of sisterhood. Serena enjoys hearing from people about how she and Venus inspired them:

It’s an amazing feeling. Just to be a part of, you know, the last generation that played, still continues to play tennis, it’s great. Then to see these young players say they’re inspired, it’s unbelievable.

It’s like when I go out there, you play to do your best, you dream of winning. No kid dreams of inspiring other women and other players. That’s just a side of it that you don’t realize you are fortunate enough to do.

For me, it’s really, really exciting.

Look at Venus’s face. That is the look of a very proud big sister.

She told the press, with a smile on her face, they exchanged “sisterly words.”

Serena posted after she left the court.

There’s nothing I would not do for this brave inspirational woman @venuswilliams how fortunate I am to have u as my sister. ❤️ #sisters

Last week, the press asked Serena previously about playing her sister. She said she would be cheering for Venus after everything she has been through and since she is a huge inspiration on other players. Serena could only find one thing wrong with Venus: her dog.

“He kind of uses me, “ she explained. “Whenever she comes home, he goes back to her. Kind of gets me excited. Been talking to her about that, though.”

But Venus?

“Venus does nothing wrong,” she said, with a huge smile. “She’s like the perfect sister.”

Hopefully the world will witness another match between the Williams sisters.

“We’ve played a lot of years and we’ve tried to be entertaining,” said Venus. “At some point we won’t be playing forever, but clearly we’re playing at a very high level now. So when that moment is over, it will be over.”

After a short pause she finished her thought.

“It’s not now.”
