Three members of a gang of teenage girls and women accused of beating a bikini-clad 21-year-old in a French park have been identified. Police now say the violent assault was a fight between rival female gangs and had “absolutely nothing to do with religion” despite all three women having Islamic names.

Of the five arrested two were minors and cannot be named, but three of those arrested are in their late teens and early twenties. They have been named as Ines Nouri, Zohra Karim and Hadoune Tadjouri. All suspects were granted bail and are due in court in September on charges of of ‘violent conduct’.

As Breitbart London reported, police previously said all five come from housing estates with large Muslim populations found in the eastern French city of Reims.

More details have now emerged about the beating of Angelique Slosse. i24News reports the police superintendent in charge of the case, Julie Galisson, said:

“It was a fight between young girls which degenerated after one of the perpetrators of the aggression said: ‘Get dressed, it’s not summer’. One of those arrested would not leave her alone and this degenerated into violence…is clear from the statement of the victim and those implicated, there is no element of a religious or moral element which explains the aggression.”

The policewoman’s comments were supported by one of the arrested girls who posted a video on Facebook following her arrest. In it she denied she had religious reasons for attacking Slosse. Complaining that being Muslim she and her friends are “easy prey” for police she continued:

“With our history, we are easy prey … Personally, since we are talking about me, I am not a terrorist. I’m the first to go sunbathing in swimsuit. … I am not a terrorist.”

Although ruling out religion, police have not yet commented on whether there was a racial motivation behind the attack.
