Breitbart London editor in chief Raheem Kassam appeared on the BBC explaining that the appointment of Nigel Farage as U.S. ambassador would give Britain the most powerful diplomat in the world.

The Breitbart London chief weighed in on a tweet made by president-elect Donald Trump made Monday in which he proposed that UKIP interim leader and Brexit campaigner Nigel Farage would make a good choice for UK ambassador to the United States.

When asked if he thought the tweet was a serious suggestion Kassam replied, “yes, I do think he was being serious. I think he values Nigel, has valued Nigel’s loyalty over the course of the campaign. ”

He mentioned the event at which Mr. Farage was the guest speaker in Jackson, Mississippi where he told the crowd during the campaign to be wary of the pollsters, a warning that proved accurate on November the 8th.

“The Anglosphere is where President-elect Trump sees the future of the world,” Kassam noted and said that it was “unfortunate” that the British government didn’t agree after they had dismissed any potential involvement from Mr. Farage.

Farage himself wrote that he was happy to help mend and improve the special relationship between the two nations in an exclusive column for Breitbart London in which he wrote: “I have known several of the Trump team for years and I am in a good position with the President-elect’s support to help,” and replying to Downing Street critics he said, “The world has changed and its time that Downing Street did too.”

The current UK ambassador Sir Nigel Kim Darroch was also mentioned by Kassam who called him an EU advisor and noted that in a world with Britain out of the European Union there was little need for his expertise and that Farage, who already has a working relationship with Mr. Trump was much more suited for the role.

“Britain could have the best ambassador, the best relationship with the White House. An open-door to the president-elect of the United states,” Kassam said adding, “or we could have a former EU adviser who holes up in the embassy, whose heart is in Brussels.”

After the presenter asked Kassam what business Mr. Trump had in recommending an ambassador, Kassam noted that the U.S. has to approve the credentials of any ambassador and that Trump wasn’t one to stand on ceremony, but rather wanted to simply get things done.

“Frankly if we want to get to the front of the queue for a trade deal with the United States there is one man who can make sure that gets done and that’s Nigel Farage,” he said.
