Travelers going through the long, tedious security screening process at San Diego International Airport now have a place to center themselves, realign their energy, and become one with… whatever; the airport has opened its first meditation room, located just after the security checkpoint in Terminal 2, according to NBC San Diego.

The nondenominational space, called “The Spirit of Silence,” or “Reflection Room,” opened on June 20 with an invocation ceremony at the airport. According to Airports International, the airport says the room is “sensitive to the diversity of travelers and offers a calm respite before or after flights.”

Seattle-based artist Norie Sato, who created The Spirit of Silence, says the room is meant to evoke the “undefinable and changing edge between water and sky, clear and opaque, organic and built.”

Meditation rooms in busy workplaces are apparently all the rage these days: Apple and Yahoo! are just two of many big companies to offer meditation rooms, not to mention the U.N. long ago got in on the action.
