TEL AVIV – Amid fears of Hezbollah retaliation for the assassination of arch-terrorist Samir Kuntar, the Israeli security establishment has banned farmers in Israel’s north from approaching the Lebanese border.

Four days after the child murderer was targeted in an air strike, the IDF instructed farmers in the Metula area not to travel or work near the border.

The IDF spokesperson’s unit told Breibart Jerusalem that barring the farmers from working along the border is a necessary security measure. However, the spokesperson also said that any farmer wishing to work in the danger zone should first inform the IDF in order to remain protected.

The spokesperson would not comment on whether a retaliation from Hezbollah was likely.

A farmer in the area said, “It is said that these are routine instructions for such times and we heard the military’s instructions. We will continue to work the land also during sensitive times.”
