The Times of Israel reports: The Israel Defense Forces launched a Patriot missile at a Syrian drone that was flying inside the demilitarized zone between the two countries on Friday, in what the army said was a violation of a 1974 ceasefire agreement.
This was the second case of Israeli air defenses firing at a Syrian drone in under a week. The military said the drone “appeared to have been shot down” by the anti-aircraft Patriot missile.
According to the IDF, the drone was being flown inside a demilitarized zone near the border, where the Syrian military is not allowed to operate under the 1974 ceasefire agreement reached between Jerusalem and Damascus after the previous year’s Yom Kippur War.
