A major mainstream media source has told Breitbart News that its models suggest turnout in the Virginia election could fall to an historic low. In 2009, turnout was around 40% of registered voters. Breitbart News has learned turnout could be as low as the mid-30% of voters.

Such a low turnout would throw out a lot of the traditional assumptions about voting returns in Virginia. It also reflects a deep antipathy among voters for both political parties. The surprising amount of support for Libertarian Robert Sarvis was the first sign of this. Voters ignoring the election, however, would be confirmation of this.
