Gun control-supporting Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) will campaign in Louisiana for his colleague, Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA), increasing the number of outspoken gun control proponents who are doing their best to defeat Landrieu’s pro-Second Amendment challenger, Bill Cassidy (R-LA).

Just weeks after the heinous attack on Sandy Hook Elementary,  then-Newark Mayor Booker pleaded for more gun control. According to the Huffington Post, Booker described the debate over gun control as a “false” one being used to “divide” America instead of uniting the country behind the changes gun controllers thought necessary.

He subsequently unveiled his plans to pursue “universal background checks” and additional laws on firearms trafficking.

Now he’s campaigning for Landrieu.

On Saturday, Booker tweeted: “I’m in Louisiana this weekend campaigning for Mary Landrieu.”

Former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg endorsed Landrieu and prominent gun control-supporting Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) campaigned for her prior to the general election. Breitbart News previously reported that Landrieu voted in support of Manchin’s failed gun control bill in April 2013.
