As former Hewlett-Packard CEO and California Senate candidate Carly Fiorina nears a decision to run for president in 2016, she blasted Hillary Clinton’s recent attack on CEO pay and the “selective outrage of the left.”

Paul Bedard at the Washington Examiner reports Fiorina appeared at a Christian Science Monitor roundtable where she decried Clinton’s attack, saying, “I find the selective outrage of the left kind of interesting. They don’t seem to be outraged by the salaries that movie stars make. They don’t seem to be outraged by the salaries that sports stars make. They don’t seem to be outraged by a lot of salaries except for CEOs.”

Observing the “web of dependence” that Barack Obama’s policies have created by destroying the entrepreneurial spirit of small businesses with massive regulations, Fiorina sees the trend continuing with Hillary Clinton who, she states, is seeking out populist themes.

“Hillary Clinton of course is channeling the populist fervor of an Elizabeth Warren. Every single policy that this administration has pursued has made it harder for the middle class,” she said, adding that Clinton’s “policies are crushing the middle class.”

“I think our government has grown so large, so powerful, so costly, so complex, so corrupt in fact that we are crushing the potential for the nation,” Fiorina continued.

Reflecting on a potential match-up between Hillary Clinton and herself as the GOP presidential nominee, Fiorina said such a race would force Clinton to leave many of her top issues aside.

“If Hillary Clinton were to face a female nominee, there are a whole set of things that she won’t be able to talk about,” she said. “She won’t be able to talk about being the first woman president. She won’t be able to talk about a war on women without being challenged. She won’t be able to play the gender card.”

Bedard notes, “’So what she will have to run on is her track record, her accomplishments, her candor and trustworthiness and her policies,’ said Fiorina with a smile.”
