GOP presidential candidate Carly Fiorina said America’s founding fathers would be “outraged” at the state of the nation today in an op-ed she wrote for The Quad-City Times.

“Our founders designed a system that was intended to work for the people, not in spite of them,” Fiorina noted. “It would work because it would be led by true public servants, men whose patriotism and love of justice would overcome self-interest or short-term motive.”

“Our founders would be outraged to see our leaders in Washington today, perched comfortably atop a broken system of their own design — one that is so big and complicated that only the big, the wealthy and the well-connected can handle it,” added Fiorina.

The former Hewlett-Packard CEO went on to say that big business and big government have ignored the people’s needs, and Americans are growing more disappointed.

“We have left behind citizen government in favor of crony capitalism, and the result is a government that no longer serves the people,” Fiorina stated.

She also suggested political outsiders are the solution for issues facing Americans today.

“We need a fundamental reimagining of government,” wrote Fiorina. “We need a leader with a different set of experiences.”

“We know that those who benefit from the status quo will never change the status quo,” stated Fiorina.  “If someone has been in the system his whole life, he doesn’t know how broken the system is.”

“Ours was intended to be a citizen government.” Fiorina cheered, “So citizens – let’s take it back.”

“Fiorina’s remarks follow her breakout performance during last week’s second GOP presidential debate in Simi Valley, Calif,” reported The Hill. “The former businesswoman raised her profile by repeatedly attacking Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump during the event airing live on CNN.”
