Senator Marco Rubio is again blasting billionaire presidential candidate Donald Trump over his proposal of a conditional ban on all Muslims until law enforcement could sort out the national security threat.

“It violates the Constitution. It places a religious test. And it isn’t the best way to do this,” Rubio said in a radio interview with Hugh Hewitt last night.

He hinted that Trump probably didn’t think about the best way to go about securing the country when drafting his proposal.

“What he proposed was not well thought out. It was impulsive. He didn’t think it through,” Rubio said.

Rubio’s comments signal a growing rebellion from Republicans to reject Trump’s proposal after the media went apoplectic in response to the proposal.

He added that it was more important to vet refugees from other countries without a religions test, but that some people would never be allowed into the country because it was impossible to get a good enough background check.

“I think a better way to address this threat is to look carefully at the processes we use to vet people, understand that there are people that no matter how often you vet them, you’re not going to be able to allow in, because we lack information on that part of the world,” Rubio said.

Hewitt pointed out that the fact that the entire Republican party was being held responsible for Trump’s rhetoric, when it was clear that the media was not grilling Hillary Clinton about Sen. Bernie Sanders comments about socialism.

“When you’re a Republican, you know you’re not going to get the same treatment as a Democrat in some outlets … it comes with the territory,” Rubio said. “It isn’t right, it isn’t fair, but it is what it is, and we have to move forward and deal with it.”
