HBO’s Bill Maher likened Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler on Friday’s show.
The Real Time host shared about an article in the Weekly Standard that talked about a 1990 Vanity Fair story that claimed Trump once kept a book of Hitler speeches in a table by his bed.
Maher said he had watched a number of Hitler speeches but could not understand them because he did not “sprechen sie German.”
“So I had one of Hitler’s speeches translated into English, and I think this tells us a lot about where Donald Trump is getting his ideas,” said Maher.
He then aired a clip of a Hitler speech that had been translated into German using satirical subtitles, such as, “We’re going to make Germany great again.”
