Senator Bernie Sanders, the former 2016 Democratic Presidential candidate, just bought his third home, which will serve as a summer home in the Champlain Islands in Vermont. The property which is situated only 500 feet from Lake Champlain facing the Vermont side, cost a cool $600,000.

According to The Hill, Jane Sanders said in regards to the purchase of the property, “We’ve traveled up to the islands many times over the years — almost always on day trips, the entire family is very excited about it.”

Sanders’ wife Jane Sanders told Seven Days in a written statement that, “We’ve been impressed with the North Hero community, eaten at the North Hero House and Shore Acres and have suggested them to friends who were looking for a beautiful place to stay or have dinner. St. Anne’s Shrine in Isle La Motte is my favorite church and it is nearby.”

Jane Sanders went on to say, “My family had a lake home in Maine since 1900, but we hadn’t had the time to go there in recent years — especially since my parents passed away, we finally let go of it and that enabled us to buy a place in the islands — something I’ve always hoped for. ”

The self-proclaimed socialist owns some pretty impressive real estate – from a row house on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., to a home in Burlington, Vermont and now a summer lake house in Vermont. Will Bernie supporters be happy with their leader’s latest purchase or will they realize that Sanders is part of the one percent they are fighting so hard against?

Sanders proclaims to be a man of the people however, time in and time out Sanders shows that he is actually more aligned with the people his followers are fighting against than the millions of people who came out and fought so tirelessly for him during the primary process.
