A 14-year-old Raytown, Missouri, girl was arrested after a Sunday tip alerted police to an alleged threat against local schools that included photos of a handgun.

The threats were contained in Snapchat screenshots which were later published by FOX 4 KC.

One of the screenshots said, “Coming to all Raytown schools Monday, Feb 26, thanks for bullying.”

A second screenshot said, “Snitch on me and I will blow the whole damn building up.”

A third screenshot was a photo of a handgun with ammunition magazines lying beside it.

The girl who posted the screenshots was taken into custody and transported to “Jackson County Juvenile Justice Center.” However, Raytown Police said they do not believe there was any actual threat as the girl did not possess any firearms. The photo of the handgun was “copied from another social media profile from out of state.”

Police ultimately believe the girl posted the alleged threat because she did not want to go to school.

The Raytown Police Department issued a statement, saying, “The Raytown Police Department would like to thank the Raytown School District and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for their immediate assistance in the investigation. The Raytown Police Department also appreciates the Jackson County Juvenile Justice Center, the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for their assistance with school security and extension of resources.”
