Starbucks customers are ordering Mint Majesty tea with two honey packets in honor of assassinated Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, who once said he drank the beverage on a daily basis to prevent from losing his voice.
After previously being asked to reveal his go-to Starbucks order, Kirk had replied, “It is literally just Mint Majesty tea with two honeys, and I drink like nine of them a day, otherwise I would lose my voice.”

Following his assassination last week, customers have been ordering the same beverage at Starbucks, and providing the name “Charlie” or “Charlie Kirk” when asked by the baristas.
One video posted to social media appears to show a Starbucks employee refusing to write “Charlie Kirk” on a coffee cup. After being asked why, the barista replied, “Because it’s political.”

On Tuesday, Starbucks responded to the video by taking to its news blog to announce, “There are no restrictions on customers using Charlie Kirk’s name on their order, and we are following up with our team.”
The following day, the coffee giant offered a lengthy update, declaring that Starbucks aims to “respect” customers’ name preference on coffee cups, “including the name Charlie Kirk.”
“Most customers use their own name. And when a customer wants to use a different name — including the name Charlie Kirk — when ordering their drink in our café, we aim to respect their preference,” Starbucks said.
The company added that while previous guidance had urged customers “to use a different name when attempting to use political slogans or phrases in place of their name,” Starbucks is “clarifying with our team now that names, on their own, can be used by customers on their café order, as they wish.”
Separately, another X user claimed a patron went to Starbucks “and ordered Charlie Kirk’s favorite drink,” but “when their cup came back, it was marked with the word ‘loser :)’ across it.”
In their post, the X user also shared two photos featuring a Starbucks cup displaying the order “Mint Majesty 2 Honey” alongside the word “loser,” written in black marker — purportedly by a Starbucks barista.
“No customer should ever be mocked or insulted because of what they order or what they believe. This is blatant bias, unprofessional, and unacceptable,” the X user said.
Starbucks also addressed that claim in its follow-up statement, saying, “The markers we use to write on cups are accessible to anyone. And therefore, notes can be easily added to a cup by others after the drink has been handed off by our baristas.”

The company added that its own investigation determined “the comments were not written by a Starbucks partner.”
“They appear to have been added after the beverage was handed off, likely by someone else,” Starbucks said.
“In millions of interactions every day, our dedicated baristas get it right. But in any instance where there may be a misunderstanding or where we don’t meet the mark, we’ll work to learn what happened and address any issues quickly,” the coffee giant added.
