On Monday, White House press secretary Jay Carney said he was “proud” he worked for a President who indicated support for changing the name of the Washington Redskins.

“I was proud of my president on this issue,” Carney said, according to The Hill

Carney is reportedly a “long-time personal friend” of Redskins Owner Dan Snyder, who has vowed “NEVER” to change the team’s name.

Obama told the Associated Press on Friday that he would “think about changing” the Redskins name if he were the owner of the team.
