Tony Korhneiser: Redskins Will Change Name Within Five Years, Braves Tomahawk Chop 'Got to Go'

On Tuesday, ESPN host Tony Kornheiser said the Washington Redskins would change their name within the next “three to five years.”

The co-host of ESPN’s Pardon The Interruption said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell would go to Redskins owner Dan Snyder, who has vowed to “NEVER” change the team name, and say, “we can’t have this anymore.” Kornheiser predicted Goodell would give Snyder “cover” after saying, “this is going to have to change.” 

Kornheiser also said he would like to see the tomahawk chop made famous in Atlanta go away, when he said, “it wouldn’t surprise me, and I would hope that that chanting at the Atlanta Braves games, that’s got to go away.” He then said “some logos” may “have to go away” and team names like “Indians” may not be safe while the Chiefs and Braves names would be. Kornheiser concluded that the “worse offender is the name Redskins.”
