The NFL handed down a set of new coronavirus restriction on Monday, perhaps most notably, the league will now require players on the sidelines to wear masks unless that have their helmet on and are getting ready to come into the game.

The new rules will take effect beginning Thursday.

The new protocols come amid a surge in positive coronavirus tests among players and staff. “A total of 108 tests have returned positive in the past two testing periods, compared to 146 in the previous 11 periods,” ESPN reports.
