Princeton University has announced it will host a workshop for students interested in non-traditional sexual experiences.
Princeton University has announced that they will be hosting a workshop through a newly recognized student group for students interested in unique sexual experiences. The scheduled workshop will focus exclusively on BDSM, which stands for bondage, discipline, dominance, submission, and sadomasochism.
A student-led club called “Princeton Plays” is behind the workshop, according to a recent report from the Daily Princetonian. Although conservative student groups around the country are facing defunding efforts and refusals for university recognition, the Princeton student government quickly recognized “Princeton Plays.”
According to the report, students interested in participating in the group’s events must be approved by a member of the executive board. While some events will be informational for the public, others will be restricted to approved members of the club. The group also promise’s its members that their identities will not be revealed to those outside of the group.
“If you’re a member of this group, they tell you that we’re going to try our best to preserve your identity,” one student senator argued, “but they can’t 100 percent guarantee that it will be protected.”
The group says that they hope “to provide a safe space for students interested in non-traditional relationships … to promote values of sexual inclusivity and affirm that all types of safe and consensual activity between individuals is valid.”
